Forbes Field

By Schenley Park, in Pittsburgh’s Oakland area, it was the first full concrete & steel ballpark in the National League. Outfield walls had ivy. An “in play” scoreboard was along the left field fence. In Forbes Field, Babe Ruth hit his last career homerun on May 25th, 1935, a tremendous drive that completely left the ballpark. One of the most exciting World Series endings happened there in 1960, when Bill Mazeroski of the Pirates hit the game winning, walk-off homerun to end the season.
