Griffith Stadium

Located in Washington DC, aroma of baking dough was from a nearby bread factory. The park had fewer homeruns, due to deep dimensions. A centerfield wall had a sharp angle, formed around a tree that a nearby owner refused to move. The Senators were tenants for a half century. In the 1940s, the Homestead Grays had residency. From this venue in 1953, one of the all-time longest homeruns was hit by Mickey Mantle an estimated 565 feet, clipping a left field advertising billboard.
