Buffalo War Memorial Stadium
On the east edge of downtown Buffalo, it was called “the rockpile”, and featured a football stadium sized layout. Minor League baseball & MLB exhibitions occurred up to the late 80’s and NFL games up to the 70’s. It was strongly considered for MLB expansion. The ballpark was featured in the film, ‘The Natural’, capturing the vintage look of the 1930’s. The stadium had long columns supporting a grandstand roof along the third base side. Infield seats were tight against the playing field.
