Baker Bowl
The Phillies called this small ballpark their home. It was a few blocks from Shibe Park, in Philadelphia’s north region. Built initially with wood, the ballpark caught fire, and was rebuilt as baseball’s first majority steel and brick venue. It had maintenance issues. An underground train ran below the field. A high right field wall was a short distance from home plate, making it a target. Babe Ruth played his last game there, in 1935.
