Briggs Stadium
Located in Detroit’s Corktown area, Briggs Stadium later had its name changed to Tiger Stadium. It had an open end beyond the outfield until upper deck seats enclosed the venue in the 1930’s. It was hitter friendly, and had a deep centerfield, where a flagpole was located on the playing field. Reggie Jackson’s 1971 All Star Game homerun is often remembered in the ballpark’s history as one of the longest & most memorable. It cleared the roof & hit the light tower during the telecast.
