Cleveland Municipal Stadium
Colder April baseball was typical in this rust belt ballpark, as the stadium was located a short distance from Lake Erie. It initially served as one of two Cleveland ballparks, until 1947, when it became the sole home field. This was the stadium where Joe DiMaggio’s 56 game hitting streak ended in July 1941, and where fans saw a championship year in 1948. It was considered a big stadium in size & capacity, especially when compared to the other former Cleveland ballpark.
