Colt Stadium

This interim Houston venue was built quickly for the Colt -45’s expansion team, just prior to rebranding as the Astros, and moving to the nearby Astrodome in 1965.  It was built with a single uncovered level, exposing fans to heat, especially during summer. The stadium was so hot that the Major League Commissioner curbed a rule & allowed the team to play its Sunday home games at night. Fans often had mosquitos invading the stands. The dimensions were more helpful to pitchers.
