Crosley Field
This small ballpark was located in Cincinnati’s western section. Left field foul line had shorter dimensions which favored right-handed pull hitters. As a lower capacity park, it seated fans close to the field. Arriving spectators could watch peanuts roasted by a noted vendor, which created a familiar aroma. An “in-play” tilt up scoreboard was located in left field, with an inclined grass terrace slanted uphill towards the left field fence. Fans saw a World Series championship team play at this stadium in 1940, and a last World Series appearance there in 1961.
