Ebbets Field

This ballpark was located in one of New York City’s five boroughs, Brooklyn, in a central section called Flatbush, along neighborhood streets. Fans watched games from apartment rooftops. Field dimensions were compact. Homeruns sailed over right field on Bedford Avenue, where souvenir hunters often clustered in the street, by a gas station, to find the ball. It was the site of Jackie Robinson’s first official Dodger game on April 15th, 1947, becoming the first African American to enter MLB.
