KC Municipal Stadium

This stadium in Kansas City was built for Minor League baseball, where the Blues played, but was later expanded for the Major Leagues. Lou Gehrig, the ailing Hall of Famer, appeared in his last game there, on June 12th, 1939. It was also home for the Monarchs. When the Athletics were tenants upon relocating from Philadelphia in the 1950’s, it received an upgrade, with a second deck added. It was well known for spectacles by team owner, such as a small zoo and picnic area behind right field.
