Lane Field
This ballpark was located by San Diego Harbor. During its life span providing tenancy for the Minor League Padres, it served the highest pro level of West Coast baseball at that time. Ted Williams played in the late 1930’s for the Padres of Lane Field. It is rumored that he hit a homerun into a passing train box car beyond the fences and the ball continued on to Los Angeles. Comprised of wood and near the waterfront, that combination likely contributed to its recurring maintenance issues.
